P275NL1 is a pressure vessel steel designed for low temperature use. This is done through the reduction of phosphorus and sulphur in the steel. We have one of Europe’s largest stocks of P275NL1 available for immediate dispatch . It is also one of the best as it relies extensively on material supplied by Dillinger Hutte whose steel is world famous for its ultra low phosphorous and sulphur content.

 

P275NL1 to EN10028-3

The key consideration from the chemical composition is the level of Phosphorus and Sulphur in the steel. The main difference between the NL1 and the NL2 grades is the the reduced % of P and S no metallic inclusions allowed in the steel for lower temperature. This is one of the reasons why P275NL1 from oakley Steel is so good. Because the whole of the steel making at Dillinger is set up to produce extremely low P and S steel – clean steel – our boiler plates often perform significantly better than required by the relevant standard.

P275NL1 Plates Available Ex-Stock

EN10028-3 P275NL1 plates are available from 10 mm to 100 mm with some even thicker plates available.The plates are normally rolled in Germany or another Western European country and will come with full certification to EN10204 – either 3.1 or 3.2.

Plate quality is excellent and meets the requirements of many major industrial specifiers on an ex-stock basis. For exceptionally stringent requirements it is possible to order directly from the mill.

We focus on keeping a wide range of plate dimensions to ensure good availability for your projects. Typically stock plates are kept in 2m, 2.5m and 3m widths. Other widths are possible as is profiling of thicker plates and large quantities to your exact requirements. P275NL1 lengths are up to 12 metres, with options at 3m and 6m and less so at 4m and 8m.

P275NL1 Plates Available Ex-Mill

For special requirements or large quantities we can roll P275NL1 plates at one of Dillinger’s two mills. Plates are available in thicknesses of up to 410 mm with widths up to 5.2 metres and lengths of 28 metres long. Not all maxima are possible in one plate!

P275NL1 Applications

P275NL1 is a low temperature steel and generally needs to be used at low temperatures. For use cases where the range of temperature exceeds 100C one avenue to explore is how to derate the steel according to EN13445-2 (4.2.2.2 table 4.2-1). Obviously when using steels at a temperature higher than their rated temperature you need to consider how this may effect the structure of the steel, via grain size modification, and thus its properties
