A387 Grade 12 Chrome Moly steel is a boiler plate steel according to the ASTM/ASME Standard A387/A387M. A387 Grade 12 is designed for use in pressure vessels and heat exchangers where there is an elevated temperature. It is described as an alloyed high temperature pressure vessel steel.
The addition of chrome and molybdenum in the steel making makes this plates suitable for use at high temperatures whilst also giving them some corrosion resistant properties. Whilst not as corrosion resistant as stainless steels, chrome moly plates in the A387 family are often a cost effective substitute in lower risk areas.
A387 Grade 12 Class 2 Ex-stock
Commonly written as A387 12 we offer A287 Grade 12 is a variety of thickness from 6 – 60mm and in a full range of plates dimensions with the most popular plate sizes being 2 x 12m and 3 x 12m. A387 Grade 12 plates are normally from German mills – typically Salzgitter and come with an En10204 3.1 MTC.

We only offer A387 G2 12 to Class 2 as these have improved physical properties over A387 Grade 12 class 1 plates. Normally this is satisfactory for engineering and customers but always do check with them first before placing an order.

A387 Grade 12 Certification
Pates are normally certified for ASME SA387 Gr 12 Cl2 as the ASME standard is harmonised with the ASTM A387 standard. This A387 and SA387 are interchangeable.
