Oakley Steel’s most popular product is HIC resistant carbon steel boiler plate for use in sour service. HIC resistance is a quality which is established by the testing of carbon steel plates after rolling to see if they meet the stringent requirement of the HIC test.

This section of our website is divided into a number of pages which give further information about HIC plate.

This is the home page. An overview of HIC resistance is given on the general page , though for detailed information ISO15156 or NACE MR0175 should be consulted directly.

HIC resistance is an additional characteristic of standard boiler plate grades; and so, on the grades and equivalents page we list the grades for which we offer HIC resistant carbon steel plate. The characteristics page describes the three different acceptance classes for HIC plate.

Finally on the test certificate page we have a summary sample test cert to give an example of the quality that we sell and the dimensions page gives details on the thickness and dimensions that are available.
